Amoretta the Faun
History
History Within Simul: Amoretta was born a “monster” to a witch. She was hated almost immediately, for being born and also for being an 'animal'. Amoretta's mother had to use her own power to keep her hidden from society as they tried to live a 'normal life'. There was a lot of abuse. When Amoretta started coming into her powers her mother began siphoning her energy from her, in order to power her own. She never taught her how to use any of the natural magics that came to her or taught her any magics that witches were capable of learning.
When she turned seven she gained enough confidence to run away and when her mother's illusions wore off she had to take to living in the woods on her own. She came across a lonely house on the edge of a swamp where she met a healer whom took her in. There she was taught to feel and use her magics. She was taught what it meant to be a 'white witch' and taught spells and potions for healing and natural (earth) magics. She was taught to imbue small items with little spells that could help in times of trouble. These are simple spells that most mages or witches would not bother with beyond knowing them as basics.
As she grew older and the 'white witch' aged she took to caring for her and the property and animals around the swamp home. She found the word 'shaman' in a book and thought it quite fitting for herself. When the witch died she left the swamp home and began traveling the world in order to help heal the earth and animals, but during her travels Amoretta always found much abuse from humans and she took to living in the Southern Forest.
After living in the Southern Forest for five years she met a bear-man. During the autumn they were ‘blessed’ with a pregnancy, though during the winter Amoretta fell corrupted by her bio-mother’s black magic. She had stolen a wand in her youth and carried it around all this time. When the bear's God (Ursaine) became upset about the two forming a relationship, he got in the way and Amoretta was somewhat manipulated into ‘taking care of the problem.’ The wand was removed from her possession and the corruption was lifted by the bear and Sprag (a spriggan, “tree spirit”). However, it left some permanent, lasting marks on her, some visual (her previously white hair and antlers, pale complexion, and golden eyes changed to what she has now) and others not so easy to see.
After the loss of her child Amoretta ran away, both from the woods that had been her home and the bear man. She wandered the swamps and the coasts and nearly all around Simul in the time of her absence from the Southern Forest. In this time she learned as much as she could about everything of the lands, and has become more secure in herself and her abilities. The ache of the past still remains but not as badly as it once was, as she focuses on learning and helping all those in need.
